Outline of scheme

 
This long standing scheme was launched in 1992 with 30 pools.  Since then the scheme has grown and currently has around 75 pools and clubs involved across the Southern Water region  which spans Hampshire (including the Isle of Wight) , East and West Sussex and Kent.  To date more than 500,000 children have been taught to swim through the scheme.

 
What the scheme provides

 
Each child who enrols in a course of lessons at participating pools and clubs receives a specially branded vinyl swim bag, a safety leaflet, a letter for parents and a certificate.

 
Pools receive an allocation of giveway items for children and can choose from a range of training aids.  T-shirts, banners and swim wear are also provided free by Southern Water annually.

What pools are required to do:

  • Display banners where possible
  • Use teaching aids for lessons
  • Wear branded T-shirts when teaching
  • Use only fully qualified swimming instructors
  • Hand out giveaways to children enrolling in lessons
  • Nominate achiever annually
  • Attend annual seminar where possible
  • Advise of forthcoming events linked to scheme
  • Acknowledge support provided by Southern Water where possible
